The Fold Barn

For a century or more this was where the cattle overwintered — a stout brick-and-timber fold with a vaulted roof that was frankly wasted on cows. The conversion keeps everything that makes the building itself: the oak beams, the height, the thick walls. Into that shell go three bedrooms, a proper kitchen, and one big open living space arranged around two things — a long farmhouse table for the meals that go on all evening, and a hearth built for real fires. This is the stay we're building for gatherings: three generations at the same table, old friends who only manage it once a year, birthdays that deserve a hearth. Days can scatter — some off up the Downs, some into a hide with a flask, some no further than the fire — and everyone lands back at the long table by dark.

The Fold Barn is still on the drawing board and in the planning process, so details on this page may evolve — layouts, dates and the finer points are all subject to change. What won't change is the building itself, and the estate around it.
