What Shepherd's Rest will be
Every estate has one spot where people stop walking and just stand there. Ours is a rise on the open pasture that faces the sunset square-on, and that's where the hut is going. Shepherd's Rest will be a proper hut — timber, tin roof, wheels — fitted out for two with a bed across the back window, a little stove, and a firepit outside for the evening shift. The field in front is the same rough grassland our barn owls hunt, so the after-dinner entertainment sorts itself out. [PLACEHOLDER: bathroom arrangement, water and power details to be confirmed.]
Who it's for
Two people who measure a good evening in firewood: sunset, supper off the firepit, an owl or two, then more stars than you thought Sussex had. By day you're minutes from the hides and the footpaths into the South Downs. It's the simplest stay we're planning, and possibly the most romantic.
