What Woodsman's Lodge will be
This was the forester's house, and it still sits where a forester would want it: at the head of a long ride, with the wood on three sides and the day's weather arriving down the fourth. The renovation keeps its working character — flagstones, a boot porch that can take five muddy pairs, a log store stacked from our own coppicing — and adds the thing every group actually lives in: a big kitchen with room to cook, eat and argue about the map all at the same table. Who it's for
A family or a walking party who want the wood rather than the yard: five people, five boots by the door, one big pan on the stove. The evening ritual writes itself — chairs at the window as the light drops, waiting for the roe deer to step out onto the ride.
