From our woodland to your flame. The Hawksfold Big Green Egg Starter Pack is a simple, steady way to light your fire — the way we do it here on the estate.

Each pack includes 50 natural firelighters and 3kg of fine kindling, both chosen for clean ignition and consistent performance. The kindling comes from our own managed woodland on the Surrey–Sussex border — the same wood we use to light our own pizza ovens, cottages, and fire pits. Air-dried in our barns, every piece is well-seasoned, neatly cut, and ready to catch.

Estate-grown kindling

We cut and split our kindling by hand from estate hardwoods, mainly ash and birch, selected for their steady burn and light, bright flame. Once split, the wood is stacked to dry in the air of our traditional barns — never rushed, never kiln-dried. This slower process gives each piece a natural dryness and an easy light, producing the kind of dependable start that’s worth the wait.

Natural firelighters

Our firelighters are made from natural wood wool and wax. They burn hot, clean, and long — about 8–10 minutes — giving your kindling the sustained spark it needs to take hold. There’s no chemical smell, no residue, just an even, reliable light you can trust to start every fire the right way.

We use the same materials ourselves throughout the year, from the fire pits outside our cottages to the ovens that turn out slow, smoky suppers.
