From our woodland on the Surrey–Sussex border, the Hawksfold Campfire Bundle brings together two essentials for a steady, effortless start to every fire. It’s the same combination we use to light fires across the estate — from the fire pits by our cottages to the pizza ovens tucked beneath the barns.

Inside each bundle you’ll find 3kg of our ash hardwood kindling, split by hand and air-dried in our barns, alongside a box of 50 natural firelighters made from wood wool and wax. Together, they light quickly and burn cleanly, helping your firewood catch without fuss or smoke.

We cut and season every piece of ash kindling on the estate. Ash is a favourite here for its steady heat and low moisture balance — even when split fine, it burns bright without spitting. Once cut, the wood spends months stacked and dried beneath open-sided barns, where the South Downs breeze does the rest. The result is kindling that’s light to handle and ready when you are — a quiet start to a lasting fire.

Our firelighters are made from renewable materials only: softwood shavings bound with natural wax. There’s no smell, no chemical residue — just a reliable spark that catches wood with ease, indoors or out. They’re as useful by the hearth as they are on the campsite or under the stars.
