Drawn from the same estate-grown timber we use for our own cottages and gatherings, the Hawksfold Fire Pit Evening Box is designed for easy, unhurried evenings outdoors. Each box contains all you need for a long, steady burn: 15kg of air-dried ash logs, 3kg of kindling, and 50 natural firelighters. Every piece is grown, split, and dried on the Surrey–Sussex border, ready to give you that familiar Hawksfold warmth wherever you light it.

Grown and made on the estate

Our woodland sits on the edge of the South Downs, where we manage the trees carefully and consistently. The ash that becomes your firewood is felled and seasoned in rhythm with the seasons. Once split, it’s stacked in open barns across the estate, where the air moves freely through the timber while the roof keeps off the rain. Nothing is rushed. Over many months, the wood loses its moisture naturally, until the logs reach an ideal balance for clean, even burning.

The same approach applies to our kindling. It’s prepared from offcuts of our hardwood processing, neatly sized for effortless ignition. The natural firelighters complete the set, made from wood wool and wax to give a clean, odourless start to every fire. Together, it’s a box that lights easily, burns steadily, and carries the quiet reliability of a well-kept woodland.

How it performs

Ash is prized for its warmth and consistency. When properly seasoned, it burns with a bright flame, a good bed of embers, and very little smoke. That makes it ideal for open fire pits, chimineas, or pizza ovens—any setting where a balanced, dependable heat matters as much as the glow.
